Week 1, Day 1:

The Origin of Love

“This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

— 1 John 4:10 (NLT)

Before you ever prayed a prayer… before you ever tried to “get your life together”… before you even had a thought about God—He loved you. That’s the starting point.

The love of God didn’t begin with your performance, your behavior, or your decision to go to church. It started in the heart of the Father, who sent His Son to demonstrate what real love looks like—sacrificial, consistent, and unconditional.

Culture teaches us that love is a reward. But the Gospel teaches us that love is a revelation—it’s shown to us and freely given.

If you don’t start with that truth, you’ll spend your life trying to earn something that’s already been given. And when you live trying to earn love, you’ll also demand it from others in unhealthy ways. But when you know you’re loved, you become secure, stable, and steady.

Reflection:

Have I truly accepted the truth that God loved me first? Or am I still trying to earn what’s already mine?

Declaration:

“Father, I thank You that I didn’t start this love story—You did. I receive the love You’ve always had for me, not because I deserve it, but because You are good.”
