Week 1, Day 3:
Receive Before You Reflect
“…freely you have received; freely give.”
— Matthew 10:8 (NKJV)
Most of us are trying to give something we haven’t truly received. That’s why it feels hard to forgive, love difficult people, or be patient with others. The love of God isn’t just a command to follow—it’s a flow we step into.
Jesus didn’t say, “Freely give love—now figure out how.” He first said, “Freely you have received…” You cannot reflect what you have not received.
This is especially true in relationships. When you don’t believe you’re deeply loved, you’ll place unhealthy pressure on your spouse, friends, or even your church family to make you feel whole. But when you’re already full of God’s love, you no longer need to take—you’re ready to give.
Let this be a week where you stop trying to love out of obligation—and start receiving love by revelation.
Reflection:
Am I trying to love others from an empty place? What would change if I allowed God to fill me first?
Declaration:
“Holy Spirit, fill my heart today with the love of the Father. I can’t give what I don’t have—so I receive, deeply and fully, Your love first.”
