Week 2, Day 1:
God’s Love Is Not Like Theirs
The way we’ve been loved by people is not always healthy, whole, or holy. Sometimes it’s inconsistent, selfish, or conditional. And if we’re not careful, we’ll start to believe that the way others have loved us is the way God loves us.
But God’s love is not a reflection of human love, it’s the perfection of love itself. His love is higher, greater, deeper, and entirely different from what we’ve known.
People may have let you down, abandoned you, spoken harshly, or failed to handle your heart with care. But God never will. He doesn’t love you based on your performance or your ability to measure up. He loves you because He is love.
Don’t confuse the broken examples of love you’ve seen with the perfect love God gives. One may have shaped your view, but only the other can heal it.
“…“I have deeply loved you with a forever-love; that is why I have been so patient and kind to draw you to my heart.”
Jeremiah 31:3 TPT
Reflection:
Am I projecting past experiences onto God’s love? Have I confused the way I’ve been treated by people with how I’m loved by God?
Declaration:
“God, I reject every false idea I’ve believed about Your love. You are not like them. Your love is perfect, faithful, and secure. Help me to see and receive it fully.”
