Week 5, Day 1:

Covenant Is a Choice You Make Before the Storm Comes

Covenant isn’t a feeling you follow—it’s a decision you make before the storm ever hits. Ruth made a covenant with Naomi when nothing about the situation looked promising. She wasn’t following comfort. She was following conviction.

There will be moments in your life when quitting looks easier. When the exit ramp feels justifiable. But covenant says, “Even though I don’t feel it right now, I’m staying faithful to what God connected me to.”

This is why I always teach: you don’t win in life by accident. You win when you’ve already made up your mind before the fight begins. Covenant is pre-decided faithfulness. It says, “I’ve settled this in my heart already.”

“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.’”

— Ruth 1:16 (NLT)

Reflection Questions:

•    Have I made a pre-decision to honor the covenants in my life—or am I waiting to see how I feel?

    •    Where do I need to re-engage what I’ve been tempted to walk away from?

Confession:

“I’m not led by feelings—I’m led by purpose. I’ve pre-decided to honor the relationships God’s connected me to.”
