Week 5, Day 3:

You Can’t Build Covenant With a Contract Mindset

Here’s a hard truth: some people want covenant results with a contract mindset. They want the fruit of loyalty without the root of commitment. But that’s not how covenant works.

A contract says, “I’m in as long as you meet my expectations.”

Covenant says, “I’m in because God connected us—and I’ve chosen to honor that.”

This applies to marriage, family, friendships, spiritual leadership—everything. Honor elevates what culture devalues. When you honor covenant, God honors you.

And let’s not forget: your mind plays a major role. If you don’t renew your mind daily, you’ll start believing that detachment is safer than devotion. You’ll protect yourself with walls instead of fighting for what’s worth keeping.

“Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage.”

— Hebrews 13:4a (NLT)

Reflection Questions:

•    Have I been protecting myself with distance instead of building through covenant?

    •    What would shift if I started treating my relationships with more spiritual honor?

Confession:

“I’m not in this halfway. I show up fully present, with a covenant heart and a renewed mind.”
